Free vs PREMIUM and creating an account
The ViewRanger app is free to download. You can use the app to show your position, record your tracks, plan routes and save the free online maps for offline use. Some advanced features in the free version are disabled such as BuddyBeacon location sharing, identifying Peaks with Skyline and the new 3D flyover. The amount of free online maps that can be saved for offline use is limited.
The free app can be upgraded to PREMIUM with an in-app purchase of the PREMIUM upgrade or a map subscription. This will unlock all the advanced features in the app and allow the saving of large areas of the free offline maps. More about the PREMIUM packs can be found here.
Create your ViewRanger account and profile
When you first launch the ViewRanger app, you’ll see the following screen. Create an account using Facebook or Google or sign up by entering your email address and creating a password. Your email address is your unique ViewRanger account username and all content such as map purchases, tracks and routes will be linked to it. If you already have an account use the Log in option and enter your existing credentials to access your account.
The next step is to add your full name and profile picture, then you’re ready to go. You can add more details to your profile - such as interests, date of birth and location – by logging into our community site http://my.viewranger.com
